A Must Have Biotech Stock

Today, I want to talk to you about a stock that has been doing very well for my New World Investor subscribers. This biotech stock recently ran up almost to my $12 target price and then pulled back. Then, last Wednesday, they had an analyst meeting that was so positive the stock jumped almost 22%. Have I sparked your interest yet? If not then read on, because there's plenty more to love about this biotech stock.

I first recommended this winning stock last June 14 at $4.50. It hit $11.63 last October, after I raised the target price from $8 to $12, but then backed off in the general aversion to development-stage stocks as investors' risk appetite vanished. Then, the day before the stock's analyst meeting, the company presented results to the International Society for Prenatal Diagnostics at their meeting in Vancouver. Their ground-breaking Down syndrome test correctly identified 100% of Down syndrome samples, with no false positives. They have 10 fetal genetic markers now, which cover 93% of all U.S. ethnic groups. Previously, they had eight genetic markets and showed greater than 95% sensitivity (identifying Down syndrome) and greater than 95% specificity (avoiding false positives). That was good enough for approval, as the existing noninvasive prenatal diagnostic techniques are only 70% to 90% accurate. In fact, due to the dangers of amniocentesis before our daughter was born, my wife opted for an x-ray/blood test last year even though it was less accurate. Had this company's new test been available then I know she would have opted for it in a heartbeat.

With a ground-breaking medical presentation like that, one could already sense what an uplifting effect it would have on the company's analyst meeting. Going forward, this biotech stock will start a multi-site prospective study in the fourth quarter, targeting a launch as a Laboratory Developed Test in the first half of 2009. Their Rh-factor test is available now to partner labs, and they will start a validation trial in the September quarter targeting FDA approval. This was a blow-away presentation, and I expect the stock to consolidate a bit and then march on to my $12 target. Now is an excellent time to buy shares of this innovative biotech stock. Why wait? A Glimpse Into the Future

I see the future, and I must tell you, the view is good. No, I'm not a psychic. But after decade spent advising investors, I do know one key thing: In some way, shape or form, history tends to repeat itself. Here's what my crystal ball has to say:

The market is magnetic. There's always a constant inter-working of support and resistance levels that can give you a general sense of direction as to where the market's heading as long as you look to what it once did under the same circumstances. The trick is to learn how to read these sometimes-subtle signs and turn them into profitable investments. That, my friends, is where I've become an expert.

Don't believe me quite yet? All right then, let's set up a little experiment. I'll let you know exactly what my prediction is and then you can come back and force me to eat crow if it doesn't turn out so, but I think you'll be pleasantly surprised once you realize I was right.

Now on to my prediction: As you all know, the S&P 500 hit a new low last Thursday just a few points above the 1326 level I previously predicted to my subscribers. I wouldn't be surprised if that 1326 low still doesn't sneak up on us in the near future, but here's where my prediction begins. As the Street moans and groans about how horribly volatile investing in the market can be right now, I foresee another, quieter crowd out there taking advantage of the doom-and-gloom group's predictions. These smart investors know what my subscribers know; now is a perfect opportunity to buy stocks (typically at an excellent discounted price). Once that ultimate low is upon us, I wouldn't be surprised if we don't immediately begin to see a fast and furious rally. In fact, if we see enough negativity persisting all the way up, this will be the rally that finally breaks through and sends us back up to our old highs of around 1555.

You heard it here first. I see a big 1555 high in our near future. It may not last long, but this rally is definitely on the way. Be sure to check back often for future glimpses into the market's future, as well as profitable suggestions of where is best to invest during these volatile days.

As always, take care!

A 4-Star Technology Performer

My New World Investor subscribers have owned Harmonic (HLIT) since I first recommended it almost two years ago. So what could cause me to hold a stock for such a long span of time? The truth is that I just love a good innovative buy. Who doesn't?

Just today this stock caught a little press attention when it's Direct-to-Edge cable IPTV solution, Media Prism, a demand content preparation soft ware, and it's PWRLink 1310 nm DWDM transmitters both earned 4-star ratings from Broadband Gear Report's (BGR) Diamond Technology Reviews.

This means, that according to Diamond Technology Reviews' standards, Harmonic's products demonstrated technical features and performance that provide both clear and substantial benefits. Sounds good to me!

Harmonic's DiviCom Ion decoder also made it on the list with a rave review of 3.5 diamonds. Not too shabby, if I do say so myself. While it's not the ring of absolute perfection that their DiviCom Electra 7000 high definition MPEG-4 AVC encoder received last year after earning a superb 5 diamond rating, I'm certainly not complaining. Currently my subscribers are enjoying an over 88% profit from HLIT and with news like this; I don't expect this stock's excellent run to stop anytime soon.
